Thengai Chorru/ Thengai paal rice

Thengai paal rice in other words kuska rice/ thengai is a traditional dish prepared always during occasions....i love the taste of basmathi rice cooked in coconut milk.....

1 cup  Basmathi rice
1no     Tomato
1no     Onion (Cut lengthwise)
1no     Carrot (cut as thin circles)
3tsp    Ginger garlic paste
2 no     Green chilli
1tsp    Garam masala
1 cup  Coconut extract
1 cup  Diluted curd
2 cup  Water
8no     curry leaves
Hand full  corriander leaves
ghee and oil for frying.
salt to taste.
Wash and soak rice for 10 min. Fry rice in a pan with little ghee and fry till moisture absorbed.
Heat a oil/ghee heavy bottem pan . Add onions and garam masala, fry well. Add tomato, carrots, garam masala and ginger garlic paste. curry leaves and corriander, fry in high flame. Add  2 cups of water, coconut milk and curd, salt... when it comes to boil add the rice and cook in medium flame.
Dum it well.
serve hot withVeg or chicken  kurma

Ofcourse I agree with you, thengai paal with basmati rice is a very good combo. But i never knew this is called kuska rice. Heard it many times and always wondered about it.

Thenga pal rice is called kuska too??I always thought kuska was biryani rice without any meat/veggies..;-)Yours looks delicious!!

Nice entry and I prefer it with your dal makhni as a side gravy.Nice combo it will be,though the rice can be taken as such.Cheers

Very nice, I tried making it with brown rice a few weeks back. It is just not meant to be paired with it. White is the way to go for this!
