Today is the 12thday of Recipe Marathon by DK and todays special is Green Gram Medhu Vadai
Green gram (pacchai payiru) is full of proteins. long time i had an idea of trying vadai out of green gram. rececntly i tried it for evening snack it came out really good and tasted yummy. try it out :)
¼ cup Whole green gram (pacchai payiru)
1 cup Urad dhal
1½ T Rice flour (add while grinding)
Salt to taste
1 no Onion ( finely chopped)
2¾ tsp Green chilly(chopped finely)
1½ Ginger (chopped)
2 T Curry leaves (chopped)
3 tsp Corriander leaves (finely chopped)
1 tsp Pepper corns (crushed)
Oil for deep frying
Soak urad dhal and whole green gram for more than 1 hour.
Pressure cook the green gram for 1 whistle with 1/4 cup of water. And strain the water from pressure cooked green gram and keep aside. (use the pressure cooked green gram water for grinding.)
Grind green gram and urad dhal to gether.( u will get a light green colour dough)
Grind green gram first for a minute with out adding water.Then add urad dhal and sprinkle very little water to get a smooth and fluffy dough. add salt at the end of the grinding. so that it mix well.Add the vadai dough to the onion, green chilli, corriander, ginger, curry leaves and pepper mixture.Mix well.
Heat oil in a kadai. When the oil is heat enough. then make small shaped vadai out of the dough and add little by little to the hot oil.
Fry the vadai till golden brown. strain well.
Serve hot with chutney.
